Luxury Goods

A luxury fashion brand issues an NFT alongside each designer handbag sold, embedding the NFT within the physical item using a discreet NFC tag. This NFT contains metadata proving the item’s authenticity, origin, and ownership chain. Five years later, the original buyer chooses to resell the handbag on the secondary market. The buyer includes the NFT in the transaction, which the new owner can verify on-chain—establishing authentic provenance and ensuring the item has not been tampered with or counterfeited. Ownership of the digital identity is then transferred along with the physical item, preserving its authenticated status and potentially increasing its market value. This process enables trusted peer-to-peer resale and reduces the cost and complexity of third-party verification services in high-value markets.
